Terms

Last updated [effective date]

These terms are the rules for using Howdy New Caney (howdynewcaney.com) and every Howdy town site. By using Howdy or making an account, you agree to them and to our privacy policy.

Who can use Howdy

Anyone can read Howdy. To make an account you must be 13 or older. To post reviews or use other social features you must be 18 or older. You sign in through a service like Google, so keep that account secure; you’re responsible for what’s done with your Howdy account.

Reviews and what you post

Write about your own experience, honestly. No reviews you were paid, rewarded or asked to write in exchange for something, no reviews of your own business or a competitor’s, no hate, threats or harassment, nothing illegal, and no one else’s private information or photos without their OK.

We don’t hide reviews because they’re negative, and businesses can’t pay to remove them. We may remove anything that breaks these rules, and we screen for fake reviews.

You own what you post. By posting it, you give [Bite Media LLC] permission to show, copy and share it on Howdy sites and in Howdy’s newsletter and social posts, for as long as it’s up. Delete it or your account and we stop using it, though copies already shared may take time to disappear.

Businesses on Howdy

Every local business can have a free page, built from public information until the owner claims it. Only claim a business you own or are allowed to manage. Information you add must be true, and photos must be yours or used with permission. Changes and photos go live after a quick review, and we can decline or edit anything that doesn’t fit these terms.

Paid add-ons, featured spots, videos and other services are covered by the order you place and any separate agreement, along with these terms. Every paid placement on Howdy is labeled.

Coupons and deals

Coupons are offered by the businesses, not by Howdy. Each one is subject to its own terms, like dates and limits, and has no cash value. A business decides whether to honor a coupon, and we aren’t responsible if one is changed or ended. Giveaways have their own official rules, and no purchase is ever necessary to enter.

Links to other sites

Buttons like Book, Order now and Website take you to other companies’ sites, such as a business’s booking or delivery page. Their terms and privacy policies apply there, not ours. Some links may earn Howdy a commission, and we say so where they do.

Things not to do

Don’t break the law on Howdy, scrape or copy the site in bulk, try to get into accounts or systems that aren’t yours, send spam, or get in the way of the site working for everyone else.

Howdy’s content

The Howdy name, cat family, design and our own writing and photos belong to [Bite Media LLC]. You can share links and short quotes; please ask before using more.

If you think something on Howdy infringes your copyright, email hello@howdynewcaney.com with what it is and where it appears, and we’ll look at it quickly.

No guarantees

We work to keep listings, hours, events and deals accurate, but they change, and businesses and organizers are responsible for their own information. Check with them before you go. Howdy is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.

Limits on our responsibility

To the extent the law allows, [Bite Media LLC] isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses from using Howdy, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the past 12 months or $100. Nothing here limits rights you have that the law doesn’t let us limit.

If your use of Howdy or what you post leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs from that claim.

Ending your account

You can delete your account any time by emailing us. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms. The sections on what you post, our content, no guarantees and limits on our responsibility keep applying after an account closes.

Texas law

These terms are governed by Texas law. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts in Montgomery County, Texas, unless the law gives you the right to bring it somewhere else.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we’ll update the date at the top, and for important changes we’ll tell you by email or on the site before they take effect. Using Howdy after that means you accept the new terms.
